After the failure in the Clausura 2018 and the Concacaf title in the middle of the week, Chivas' team begins planning for the next tournament starting this Sunday, revealed coach Matías Almeyda after the defeat against León.
"If we want to be protagonists in the next tournament, the team needs to reinforce. I will give Paco a list of players that I intend to have and then I will see the final result. There are players like Alanis who are leaving, Oswaldo finishes with us tomorrow, Cota will have to return, there are many situations to improve for the upcoming tournament," he said.
For the Argentine, it is important to strengthen the Guadalajara squad, as they will face three tournaments including the Club World Cup in the second half of 2018.
"We will play three tournaments: League, Cup, and Club World Cup. Going to the World Cup with so many young players would be nice, but at the same time, not very competitive, because there would be a big difference compared to those powers they would face. But above all, the local League, there are two clear championships and the reality is that with what we have, we need reinforcements," he explained.
Almeyda spoke about his continuity, as rumors of interest from other teams have emerged as they do in every transfer window, although he made it clear that whenever these types of matters arise, he informs his management.
"We always make plans, I made them a month ago, but I reiterate that football is very dynamic, there are many days and things to improve, but we will see, fortunately, I have always had offers and I always inform the management about them, but that does not mean it just depends on a decision, it depends on other reasons," he stated.
