The captain Carlos Izquierdoz from Santos Laguna, assures that despite the recent results, the team's morale has not wavered and they have the opportunity to finish as second place in the Table.
"We had the illusion of already securing the second spot, finishing almost perfectly at home. Above all, we look at the performance and it leaves us calm, maybe correcting some defensive details, but I don't think we are a disaster.
Animically we are fine, we talked about it today. We are second in the tournament, we cannot be in a bad mood. The recent results have not accompanied us, but the team has continued to perform well," said the captain.
"They may be unhappy with the last matches, but we have 29 points and since I arrived, I did not have a campaign like this. Yes, we lost the last match, but if you saw the performance, the football that the team practiced, there can be no complaints or doubts."
He indicated that an important match is coming up with the visit to América in the last regular match of the Clausura 2018.
"We know that in the last matches it did not go the way we wanted, but we have the opportunity to go and close with a victory. Analyzing it well, it has been a great tournament. We let this last home match slip away. Looking at the result, it was bad, but analyzing the game, we did very well, the team dominated from start to finish," he pointed out.
He assures that no one relaxes in this last match, even when the ticket is secured.
"I don't think anyone is relaxed, today in Mexican football, in all matches, you play for something. It is difficult for any rival to relax, they will have the same intention as us, to finish as high as possible to define most of the keys at home. We are two teams that will have playoffs, that aspire to the title, it will be one of those matches we like."
About the defensive work, which has decreased its performance in recent games, Carlos mentioned that they are already working on that to adjust for the playoffs.
"We have conceded two goals in the first half against Atlas, two goals in the first half against Pachuca, two goals in the first half against Pumas. It is something that we have to correct. In a playoff, if you give that small advantage, it will cost you a lot later."
Now, he says that the goal is to achieve a victory at the Azteca against América, which will be one of the teams to beat in the playoffs, "it would be the best because we would enter with confidence to face the last six matches.
