MEXICO -- After leaving training this Monday at La Noria, Cruz Azul midfielder, Carlos 'Gullit' Peña, advanced a few meters in his truck and stopped at a grocery store to buy alcoholic drinks.
The players who were not starters against Tigres began training at 10 am under the orders of Pedro Caixinha; 'Gullit' was part of that group that worked towards the match of matchday 16 against Morelia, which will mark the farewell of the Máquina from Estadio Azul.
Peña, who played in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, left the club facilities shortly after noon and then crossed the street to purchase a six-pack of light beer before getting into his car.
With a smile, the store staff confirmed that he made such a purchase and added that he "comes often".
La Máquina is practically eliminated from the playoffs, with only two matchdays remaining in the regular Clausura 2018 tournament.
Not only do they need the 6 points that are up for grabs, but at least seven teams need to not accumulate any points this weekend.
The last match for the celestes will be against Veracruz, who are fighting to avoid relegation.
