Miguel Herrera, coach of Club America from Mexico, dismisses the idea that MLS is at the same level as Liga MX, despite the big investment they have made to hire top world players.

"The money they inject is very important, they brought players that it's almost impossible to compete against, suddenly the salaries they manage for three franchise players on each team, with salaries of eight or 10 million dollars, in Mexico we don't pay that, there are no such reach, but our league is very solid and strong, it doesn't mean they catch up to us," he said.

He emphasized that Mexican soccer competes "against the economically most powerful country, their sports are very strong, they have a lot of money and today people with money in the United States have seen in soccer a very strong investment, thinking they can make their league grow quickly."

"Our league is very strong and solid, we don't compete with the MLS, we compete with European leagues and of course MLS wants to reach the Mexican league to eventually compete with the ones in Europe," he pointed out.

He stated that this superiority must be confirmed on the field, not only with attractive soccer, but with goals that allow them to resolve the series in their favor.

"I watched the two games between Toronto and New York against Tigres and Tijuana, it seems to me that the two Mexican teams played better, but sometimes you don't win by playing better or doing things right, you win with goals and they were practical in scoring goals at the right moments and eliminating the two teams," he concluded.

Toronto FC and Club America will face each other this Tuesday in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals.
