Celaya Fails to Take Advantage of Home Field, Ties 1-1 with Leones Negros

CELAYA (Notimex) - Celaya Club wasted its home advantage and ended up tying 1-1 against a combative Leones Negros from the University of Guadalajara, in a match corresponding to the 14th round of Ascenso MX football.

The scorers of the night were Franz Torres, at the 16th minute for the home team, and defender Kristian Álvarez who equalized the match at the 53rd minute.

As a result of this tie, both teams continue their fight for a spot in the playoff in the "silver circuit". Celaya's Bulls reach 22 points and remain in fifth position, while Leones Negros closely follow in the sixth place with the same number of units.

The locals took the lead with a powerful shot from the edge of the area courtesy of Franz Torres, who put the score 1-0 on the scoreboard of the Miguel Alemán Valdés Stadium.

In the second half, former Chivas de Guadalajara player Kristian Álvarez scored the 1-1 with a superb shot that sent the ball into the back of the net and revived Leones Negros.

In the most thrilling part of the match, the "goalkeepers" played a leading role by making several saves that prevented goals and secured a deserved 1-1 draw.

Humberto Vargas Mata was in charge of enforcing justice on the field, with a good performance and showing a red card for a double yellow to Rodolfo Salinas at the 59th minute of the second half. He also cautioned Celaya's "Chango" Moreno.
