A dynamic and different program took place yesterday at 'Somos Santos', broadcast live by Multimedios Laguna.
It featured two special guests, Uruguayan Bryan Lozano, who is going through a great moment, and the coach of the Santos U-20 team, Rubén Duarte.
Among Lozano's notable statements, he expressed his desire to stay at Santos for a long time, although his loan contract seems to end this Clausura 2018.
"They haven't spoken to me, meanwhile I work and train, trying to show that I want to stay." -
On the other hand, Rubén Duarte shared how his arrival at Santos was, coming from Atlas, where he had extensive experience. Despite his somber start in Torreón, he did not give up and now Santos is one of the most successful youth teams in recent tournaments.
"We are in fourth place in the standings, we have a great commitment, but we are very happy and excited. We are the champions and the challenges and goals are great. We are going for the back-to-back championship, but step by step, we are there close to the top spots, and so far we have almost achieved it," he said in his first intervention. His beginnings were not what was expected, but he persevered.
"I am from Guadalajara, I was a player for Atlas in the 90-91 season in the First Division. After a brief stint in the top division due to injury, I immediately started working. I trained as a coach at Atlas, starting with the youngest category, until I reached the first team. I remember it was against Cruz Azul, I was part of the U-20 and U-17 teams, we had promotion from Liga de Nuevos Talentos to Premiere, we have five professional titles including the ones with Santos."
Like the franchise, it has little time but a lot of history. "I have been here for a year and a half and I am happy and grateful to be at this great institution, with a well-organized infrastructure where we work comfortably. I have mentioned this before, but Santos is the reality, it has a methodology that everyone knows and respects. We work in areas where each person contributes so that we can work well, and the results are not a coincidence, it is work, more prepared and capable people. That's how Santos is experiencing what it is," he said.
It is Santos today, where the best work is done in youth teams. "Atlas was once the best youth teams, just like Santos is doing now with arguments and titles, with players in the first team. The methodology is different, Santos is always updating, not sticking to a methodology from 10 or 15 years ago," he said. It was a challenge to come to Santos and the trust of Siboldi when he was in charge of the youth teams was essential.
"With all respect, I arrived at the team, unfortunately there were challenges, things didn't go well when I arrived, we finished last. But you have to have personality and character to move forward. We found a very young team, half of them were from the U-17 team.
Siboldi talked to me, gave me all his trust, he knew it was a very young team and thanks to that and the trust they had in me and my coaching staff, we won the championship after six months," he concluded.
"WE WORK AS A TEAM"
For the second half of the program, Uruguayan Bryan Lozano joined, who, like the rest of his teammates, is going through a great moment. In the first instance, he talked about the last victory against Puebla.
"A very tough match against an opponent that hadn't lost at home. We arrived with a lot of confidence, the victory was hard-fought and I'm happy with that and with being the leader," he said.
A big difference from last year to 2018. "Last season didn't go well for us, we left very hurt. Today, we enjoy the moment, we are at the top of the table, but we have to keep working with the same intensity, reach the playoffs without pressure, and continue bringing joy to the people. That's why we work day by day," he said.
Now, he said, they work as a team, that's part of their success.
"Without a doubt, it was different from before, with another coaching staff, other strategies, new players. The team now works as a team, very committed to each other, running for your teammate or him running for you," he affirmed.
He dreams of being a champion, as much as the fans do. "Just like the fans dream of the championship, we do too. Since the preseason, we are on the right track, believing in ourselves as we have been doing, and hopefully we will be celebrating a title," he declared.
Finally, it seems that his loan with Santos ends after this tournament and he could return to América. Bryan hopes that the team from Torreón will exercise the buy option.
"My loan ends after this tournament, and I have the hope of staying here. We worked hard for this situation to happen and for me to stay at Santos. They haven't spoken to me, in the meantime, I work and train, trying to show that I want to stay. I'm happy with the people, my teammates, and the club," he concluded.
