Monarcas Morelia team drew 1-1 with the Xolos from Tijuana, who wasted their home advantage, and a combination of results could leave them out of the playoffs zone of the Clausura 2018 Tournament of the Mexican League.
In the match, the border team took the lead early on, in the fifth minute, through Ecuadorian player Miller Bolaños; however, the Michoacan team equalized at the 37th minute with a free kick from Chilean player Diego Valdés.
With this result, at the start of the 12th round of the Tournament, the Xolos reached 17 points, hoping that Monterrey, Pumas UNAM and Necaxa do not win their respective matches, so they are not displaced from the top eight spots.
Meanwhile, Monarcas gained 20 points, which ensures, at least for this round, their stay in those positions that qualify for the final playoffs, known as "la fiesta grande" of the Mexican First Division football.
During the match, Tijuana quickly took the lead against a "disconnected" Morelia, so in the fifth minute, Ignacio Rivero advanced on the left and sent a pass for Bolaños to score the 1-0 without much trouble.
At the same time, Morelia took advantage of their better moment to equalize, thanks to a free kick by Diego Valdés, where goalkeeper Gibrán Lajud could do little or nothing.
The draw was a good reward for the Michoacan team, as they suffered at times during the second half.
