MEXICO -- Francisco Gabriel de Anda was officially introduced as the sports director of Chivas in a press conference that didn't allow questions from reporters and lasted about three minutes.
Jose Luis Higuera, Jorge Vergara, Gabriel de Anda, Amaury Vergara, and Matias Almeyda sat in that order to allow the owner and the new executive to say a few words.
"I am very pleased to welcome Chivas at this moment when we need support and we are going to make Chivas what we have always dreamed of: the best team in Mexico and then the world," Jorge Vergara said.
Gabriel de Anda extended the owner's hand and responded:
"Thank you very much Jorge, thank you for the invitation, Amaury, Jose Luis, thank you for the invitation to this project. Since the first chat, the first interview we had, of course, the enthusiasm it generated in me and the commitment of the fact that they have the trust in me has been very great and as the days go by, it will be even greater.
"I understand perfectly that Chivas is not just a soccer team, it is a social phenomenon with a great responsibility. I have always believed that the Mexican player has much more capability than people assume and being invited to this project excites me and commits me."
Later, Amaury Vergara handed the red and white jersey to Gabriel de Anda, who put it on and then they all posed for the photographers.
