MEXICO -- Pachuca player, Jorge Hernández, sees his call up to the Mexico National Team as an opportunity to earn a spot for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
"I will focus on what I have to do and I don't know what I might be missing or what I can do to be in the World Cup. I will try to do things the best way possible and take advantage of this call-up so Juan Carlos Osorio can see me and I can earn a spot. It's an opportunity for him to see you and work with the national team and try to reach that fifth match," he said.
The 'Burrito' stated that the 2018 World Cup in Russia could be his only opportunity in his career to participate in a World Cup tournament.
"I always set that as a goal, but at 28 years old and seeing my teammates, some of them already have a World Cup. It's my objective to be part of the national team and fulfill that. I've had the chance to be called up and be part of the Hexagonal stage even though I didn't play," he mentioned.
In the same vein, Franco Jara acknowledged that the national team could suffer in the future due to the lack of opportunities given to young national players.
"It could be that there is a shortage of forwards, but there is also a lack of opportunities and other teams don't give chances. In Pachuca, we provide these opportunities and Roberto de la Rosa is a testament to that. It's good for them that opportunities open up and it's young people who want to succeed," he explained.
