LEON -- Club Leon continues to make headlines with important news from within: After presenting Giles Barnes with a graffiti and hiring Landon Donovan, the team is already planning the construction of a new stadium.

Through its official Twitter account, Miguel Márquez, governor of Guanajuato, assured that the green team will remain inside its current venue until 2022 and in the meantime a new football ground will be built.

"We inform the fans of @clubleonfc that the team will continue playing at Estadio León until 2022 and we already have land for the construction of a new stadium," the governor said.

This announcement was made together with Hector Lopez Santillana, who serves as the municipal president of Leon; both were present at a press conference on the morning of this January 24.

If everything goes according to plan, the team from Bajio will only live four more years in their current stadium, which was inaugurated just over 50 years ago.
