Rodrigo Marín Takes Priority Over Oswaldo Alanís
After being granted a pardon by Jorge Vergara, Oswaldo Alanís has gradually been integrating into the first team's work, but he is not yet ready to go to the bench. Chivas coach Matías Almeyda pointed out that Alanís' case is special, as he missed part of the preseason and is still getting himself in shape. Every day he looks better, but for now, the starting position belongs to Marín.
Playing in Sub 20 Beneficial for Alanís
"We talked to him in the last game and decided that playing in the Sub 20 team would be good for him. He finished a bit tired, but I saw him well and he is training well. He hasn't played since November 4th, and there's a lot of time without playing. We really have a cup ahead, and I need to arrive with full strength. It's about gradually bringing him up to his level, and if Marín neglects himself, he should be careful."
Walter Gael Sandoval and the New System
On the other hand, Almeyda pointed out that Walter Gael Sandoval's case is different. The attacking midfielder comes from playing in a very different system, and until he masters the system that "Pelado" likes, he will not be considered as a starter.
"They are adjusting to a different style of play, to another working methodology, and they are adapting well. The development of our forward, Cisneros, will be slower because he has Macías and Godínez ahead of him. He has participated in the Sub 20 team, scored goals, and I need him to play more to be in the first team. As for Gael, he was used to another system and the change is noticeable. Most of our players are dynamic, go back and forth; the defensive aspect is costing him and he is getting used to it," expressed Almeyda.
