Carlos Acevedo, Santos Laguna goalkeeper who will start against Mineros de Zacatecas in matchday 2 of the Copa Mx, stated that we must take advantage and show that we are ready for when the opportunity to play in the League presents itself.

"Facing an ascendant team does not mean having the victory on paper, Mineros is a tough team that will seek victory at all costs at home and with their fans," said Acevedo.

"It benefits a lot because we realized that they are a team that fights to the death, it will be difficult, we have to be well focused throughout the match to get the three points, in conclusion, we know that Mineros is doing well and we have to go to their home to win."

The Santos Laguna team departed on Monday afternoon, at 13:15 hours, by air to Zacatecas, for the match on Tuesday against Mineros at 19:00 hours at Estadio Francisco Villa.

Acevedo's expectations for this edition of the League are high. "To surpass what was done last year, thinking about winning a championship, first go through the group stage and then whatever comes, to overcome," he said.

Regarding football, he stated that Santos Laguna has made a lot of progress from one semester to another.

"We have made a lot of progress, in the last match (against Tigres) we should have at least achieved a draw, but the team's performance is there, we have advanced a lot, the preseason helped a lot."

They were left with a thorn, as they feel that they could have brought at least a draw from Monterrey last Saturday.

"It's a matter of details, of concentration, personally, I saw that the team played quite well, we are left with the thorn of having been able to bring at least one point, now comes the cup to win, play well and convince," he commented.

Playing all the Copa matches is important for the entire squad, so that those who do not have much activity can gain game rhythm.

"If you don't qualify in the cup it's complicated, the important thing is to always keep advancing for any opportunity that arises in the league, arrive with rhythm and minutes."

Santos will not change how they play in the league compared to how they will play on Tuesday night in Zacatecas.

"The essence never changes, we are going to propose a match that is complicated, but always seeking the three points, we have to give our all to win, the posture does not change," he asserted.

There is no difference in these matches between a first division team and an ascendant one, although it must be made clear, said the green and white goalkeeper.

"No, I think the match is going to be more complicated, because for them, facing a first division team motivates them with their fans, I don't consider us favorites, but we have to differentiate that we are in the top division and make it clear on the field."
