Emanuel Aguilera's Positive Start at Club América

Emanuel Aguilera nervously stepped onto the Queretaro field, regardless of his experience, playing for a big club always accelerates the pulse and creates some tension. However, as the minutes passed, he gained confidence and began to show solidity in the Azulcrema defense. After 90 minutes, it was an ideal debut as he kept his zone clear of danger, secured the victory, and maintained a clean sheet. His adventure at América had a positive start.

The Challenge and Ambition at América

The Argentine defender understands the team he has joined and has fulfilled a professional aspiration. However, the challenge has just begun as América demands week after week of dedication and training. He is aware that all eyes will be on him due to the inevitable comparisons with his predecessor, Pablo Aguilar. Nevertheless, Emanuel is not concerned with this debate; he is determined to create his own story and fight for success without comparing himself to anyone. His primary focus is to do his job and provide security to the Americanista defense.

"I am aware of everything that Pablo achieved with this club. He became a reference point and an idol for the fans. I hope to demonstrate why América brought me here and make my own mark. I would like to achieve significant things with this team. I am very happy to be here, and I believe it was a good start to the season, and we hope to continue on this path," he said.

The Expectations at Club América

Aguilera understands the high expectations at América, a team obligated to be a protagonist in the regular season, reach the playoffs, and contend for the title. "América has to win on all the fields to show why it is so great in Mexico. They are always expected to win titles, so we hope to have a good semester and achieve that highly desired championship," he expressed.

The Value of Being a Reinforcement

Emanuel feels more committed as one of the reinforcements because they have to demonstrate their worth and abilities. He observed América from the outside when he faced them before, and now that he experiences it day by day, he truly understands the value of this club. He appreciates the squad that has been formed for this season and the high expectations that come with it.

"América already had a great team before our arrival. I hope that with the reinforcements, the offensive side will be further enhanced. With the additions of Ibargüen, Henry Martín, and Ménez, I believe the offensive capabilities will be significantly increased. On the defensive side, we will strive to keep clean sheets in every game, knowing that we have talented offensive players supporting us," he stated.

Debuting at Home

Looking ahead to their home debut against Pachuca on Saturday, Emanuel states that the objective is clear – to be protagonists both at home and away. This is especially important at the Azteca Stadium to connect with the fans. Additionally, this season, América will play ten matches at home, equivalent to 30 points, which would secure a playoffs spot automatically. "We will try to showcase our game and implement it, whether we are playing at home or away. Being at home, we have to be strong, and we hope to take advantage of that and the number of home games we have this season," he expressed.

Smooth Adaptation

Emanuel Aguilera's first days at América have been smooth as he was already familiar with Mexican football. He arrived as a specific request from Miguel Herrera and joined alongside Henry Martín, Joe Benny Corona, and Carlos Vargas, with whom he now shares the starting center-back position. These factors have facilitated his adaptation. "It has been a calm process so far, but obviously, with a lot of responsibility, knowing what this club represents. It is often said that adapting to Mexican football can be challenging, but I have already spent a year and a half in Mexico, and I have felt very good. I hope to continue demonstrating that and, hopefully, even better here at América than I did in Tijuana," he commented.

Familiarity with Herrera's Style

Emanuel demonstrated on Sunday that he understands Miguel Herrera's style. He played out from the back and was attentive to defensive coverings. When he saw an opportunity, he even joined the attack. He believes that over time, the team will become more fluid with their movements. "I feel very identified and comfortable with Miguel's system because he prioritizes building up the play. I enjoy that style of play, trying to build from the back and always being an option for the defenders while also delivering clean passes to the midfielders or forwards," he explained.

Ready for the Challenge

Víctor Emanuel Aguilera has embarked on his journey as an Americanista, a challenge for which he is fully prepared. "The commitment is immense; we have to show why we are in this team and strive to do our best and respond on the field," he stated.
