Nicolás Gaitán's career with Atletico Madrid is about to end and with the transfer market open, the Argentine footballer has a significant amount of offers at his disposal; one of them would come from Mexico.
The skillful midfielder is looking for more playing time heading into the 2018 World Cup and at least four teams from the Premier League have joined the race for his services: Watford, West Ham, Southampton, and Everton.
As revealed by the British newspaper Daily Mirror, one of the teams most interested in his services would be Southampton, managed by Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino and willing to provide him with all the possible minutes.
"Monterrey also does not have enough power to compete for a player for whom they intend to make every effort to play in the Mexican league," explains the Spanish newspaper Diario Marca, which even revealed an approximate budget for the signing.
€20 million is the amount requested by 'Colchoneros' to let go of the footballer who once shone with Benfica in Portugal, although some of the interested clubs would have preferred a loan option.
