The new coach of Cruz Azul, Pedro Caixinha, will be able to be on the bench in matchday 1 of Clausura 2018, after the Disciplinary Commission reported that the Portuguese is eligible due to a payment made.

Through a statement, it was informed that, "Members of the Technical Team who have been sanctioned with less than five matches of suspension, or who have less than five matches of pending suspension to complete, may, after one year has passed, cancel their suspension through the payment of an extraordinary contribution of 150 UMAS for each match of suspension that they have left to complete".

After being dismissed from Rangers in Scotland, Pedro Caixinha was hired by Cruz Azul, where he will make his official debut on January 6 against Xolos at Estadio Azul.
