Monterrey wins the Liga MX

Monterrey lifted the Liga MX trophy last season after defeating Tigres in the final of the playoffs, so they have the obligation to be a protagonist and try to defend their title in 2018. To achieve this, they are looking for reinforcements, but not from the local league, but from Spain.

Nicolás Gaitán from Atlético Madrid is reportedly in Monterrey's plans. The Argentine has the dream of playing in the 2018 World Cup but is not getting the necessary playing time under Diego Simeone, so his departure seems imminent.

Atlético de Madrid is willing to loan out Gaitán, but within Europe, so Monterrey will have to make an effort to secure his services. Liga MX teams have a good financial capacity, and Monterrey, led by Antonio Mohamed, is no exception.

Boca Juniors is one of the teams that would compete with Monterrey for the Argentine player; however, Atlético de Madrid is asking for a lot of money, and Boca Juniors is not willing to make an excessive expense, as the loan fee is around 10 million euros.
