Peruvians Luis Advíncula and Irven Ávila were confirmed this Tuesday by the Lobos BUAP coach, Rafael Puente, to play in the next 2018 Clausura Tournament of the Liga MX.
Luis Advíncula was an important piece for the team in the past 2017 Apertura along with his compatriot Pedro Aquino, and for the next tournament, his fellow countryman Irven Ávila will be added.
"Luis' intention is to continue with us. I have spoken with him and he is aware that an important semester is coming up in his career and he wants to finish it by playing in the World Cup (Russia 2018)", stated Puente in a press conference.
Puente reminded that Tigres, the recent champion, owns the rights to Advíncula and has the option to negotiate him, but he said that "it is highly unlikely that he will leave," although "we will have to wait".
Regarding Irven Ávila, the coach said that he will undergo medical and physical tests in the coming days, although he has been with the team since the preseason started, with the first stage taking place in the Acapulco resort, Pacific Mexico, last week.
"Ávila is already here, it has not been official yet because he is undergoing physical evaluations, but he has been training with us since the preseason," stated Puente. On the other hand, the coach said that they are expecting the arrival of four foreign reinforcements that will help them move away from the relegation zone and maintain their category.
"We have not closed the squad, we are waiting for four reinforcements. One is the Argentine Facundo Erpen (Atlas) whose arrival has been postponed due to an agreement between player and board, and the other three reinforcements are currently being negotiated," explained Puente.
The 38-year-old strategist commented that the positions they are looking for are a winger, a midfielder, and a defensive midfielder, although he did not specify the name or nationalities of the potential reinforcements.
The Lobos de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) is one of the five teams, along with Querétaro, Veracruz, Puebla, and Atlas, that will fight to avoid relegation to the Liga de Ascenso next season.
