Tigres and Monterrey disputed the Final of the Apertura 2017, where the Tigers were crowned champions.

Therefore, being the Champion and Runner-up respectively, both qualified for the 2018-2019 Concacaf Champions League according to the regulations and will represent Mexico with aspirations to qualify for the Club World Cup.

The other two Mexican representatives for this competition will be the Champion and Runner-up of the Clausura 2018 Tournament.
