Rayados de Monterrey confirmed their good form in the Apertura 2017 Tournament of Liga MX, by defeating Tigres de la UANL 2-0 in the 113th edition of the Regiomontano derby.

Rayados de Monterrey ratifies their good performance in the Opening Tournament 2017 of Liga MX, by defeating Tigres de la UANL 2-0 in the 113th edition of the "Clasico Regiomontano", which allowed them to finish the regular phase as the overall leader and now both teams will focus on the playoffs.

The goals were an own goal from Brazilian Anselmo Vandrechovsky "Juninho" at the 47th minute and another one from Avilés Hurtado at the 50th minute. With this result, Rayados reached 37 points and the "felinos" remained with 32.

The match started with a good pace, with both teams seeking to cause damage to the opponent's goal and it was the home team that looked more dangerous.

Rayados' first opportunity came when Argentinean Leonel Vangioni received the ball and shot from outside the box, but it ended up being a scare for the players of Brazilian coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti.

At the 15th minute, Argentinean forward Rogelio Funes Mori received a long pass on the left side, headed towards the area and took a powerful shot, but goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán saved his goal.

Tigres tried to generate dangerous attacks to the goal defended by Hugo González, but Monterrey was well positioned on the field and it was until the 28th minute when Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac headed a cross from the right, but the goalkeeper grabbed the ball.

In response, the hosts reacted and Nicolás Sánchez took a long-range shot, but once again, Guzmán saved his goal by sending the ball over the crossbar.

Just at the beginning of the second half, midfielder Neri Cardozo reached the end line on the right side and sent a cross that was deflected by Juninho, who, however, sent the ball into his own net and thus the 1-0 was scored at the 47th mark, in favor of Rayados.

The locals took advantage of the visitors' discouragement and at the 50th minute, Avilés Hurtado headed a corner kick from the left side to put the 2-0 on the scoreboard.

After that, the visitors tried to react to shorten the distance, but they could not generate real dangerous attacks to Hugo González's goal.

Monterrey still had some arrivals in the final minutes of the match, but in the end, the score did not change and they took the three points.

The referee of the match was César Arturo Ramos, who cautioned Neri Cardozo, Rogelio Funes Mori, and Jonathan González, for Rayados, and Rafael Carioca and Juninho, for Tigres.
