Everything points to goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota being the first departure from Chivas for the Clausura 2018, as coach Matías Almeyda has confirmed that Pachuca is asking for 8 million dollars for El Rebaño to acquire his rights, a figure that, according to the Argentine coach, is not within the reach of the rojiblanco team.
The money that Tuzos would be asking for the national team goalkeeper, according to the Transfermarkt website, is around 7.88 million euros, surpassing other national and foreign players who play for top clubs in Europe, such as Brazilian full-back Dani Alves, who, according to the same platform, is valued at 6 million euros.
The marked differences are more evident when this page assigns a value of only 2.8 million euros to Chivas' goalkeeper, adding that in the latest edition of 'The Best' awards, Alves was part of the FIFPro team made up of the 11 best players of the year.
MORE EXPENSIVE THAN REGULARS
Dani Alves' case is not the only one that stands out in terms of the difference in market value that some renowned players have compared to what Pachuca is asking for Cota. Among them, there are also several Mexican internationals who not only play in Europe but also have a secure place in Juan Carlos Osorio's starting eleven.
Some of these players include names like Diego Reyes, Miguel Layún, Héctor Moreno, and Andrés Guardado, all valued at 6 million dollars by Transfermarkt.
Even Rodolfo is more expensive than the two regular goalkeepers of the Mexican national team, as José de Jesús Corona is valued at 1.5 million euros, compared to Guillermo Ochoa's 3 million.
ON PAR WITH MADRID OR UNITED?
Setting aside all these comparisons, which also include Tigres forward André Pierre Gignac (valued at 6 million euros), there are other players who play in the same position as Cota and currently play for two of the most important teams in Europe and the world.
We are talking about Spanish goalkeeper Kiko Casilla and Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, backups for Real Madrid and Manchester United, who Transfermarkt values at 6 million euros, less than the almost 7 million that Pachuca wants for the Clausura 2017 champion.
