Baseball Party Moves to Magdalena, Jalisco

The baseball party moved to Magdalena, Jalisco, about 60 kilometers from the capital Guadalajara. The Charros de Jalisco faced off against the Tomateros de Culiacán in a preparation duel at Miguel Hernández ballpark.

The result was favorable for the Tarasco team, with a victory by Daniel Guerrero, starting pitcher for the Bigotones. Édgar González took the loss for the Guinda Nation. The final score was 6-2 for the Bigotones, who defeated the team from Culiacán in a perfect fourth inning.

Ismael Salas hit a home run off Guerrero in the top of the first, but that was all the damage they could do against the Charros right-hander.

In the bottom of the first, Manny Rodríguez singled and runners were left on the corners. Then a routine hit by Zazueta was not well defended by the second baseman, who committed an error, tying the game 1-1. That ended the first inning with that score.

In the top of the second, Guerrero pitched a clean inning, despite a serious error by the center fielder who couldn't catch a routine fly ball.

In the bottom of the second, Santiago Chávez hit a double with no outs, but there was no support and he was left in scoring position, keeping the game tied in the bottom of the second.

In the third inning, both pitchers looked dominant and both put up a zero.

In the bottom of the fourth, Santiago Chávez hit a single to right field, driving in Beto Carreón for the go-ahead run for the tapatía jersey.

A hit by Luis Cosío and with the help of the pitcher, Charros scored their third run. But the party continued and with a hit by Edson García, Santiago Chávez and Cosio scored for the fourth and fifth runs for the Charros. The fourth inning was a nightmare for Bengi Gil's pupils.

The Charros bullpen was decisive, keeping the Tomateros far behind on the scoreboard in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

The sixth run for the Charros came with a hit by Julián Ornelas, who drove in Alberto Carreón for the tapatíos' half-dozen.

In the top of the eighth, the Charros pitcher dominated and once again put up a zero.

In the ninth, the visitors scored their second run, but it was too late and with that run, the game ended with a score of 6-2 in favor of the Charros.

This Friday, the Charros will have their third game of this series at the Celanese stadium in Ocotlán.
