Student American football in Mexico continues in its third week of activities and stands out for having one of the most attractive matchups in the National Student American Football Organization.
The Pumas from University City visit the Auténticos Tigres from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León at Gaspar Mass Stadium. A game that pits the two teams that, on paper, look like the favorites to be crowned in the Onefa.
The capital team comes from a valuable victory over their brothers from Acatlán with a score of 49-13, keeping their record with one win and one loss, while the UANL team prevailed 27-16 against the Wolves from the Autonomous University of Coahuila, maintaining a record of two wins and zero losses.
This game is crucial to define the possible home-field advantage in the postseason, since these two teams have faced each other in the final since 2009, with three titles for Pumas CU and five for Auténticos Tigres. The UNAM team will seek its first victory in Monterrey since 2013, when they defeated the locals in the final.
Other interesting matchups in this American football week are the Burros Blancos against the Águilas Blancas in the classic of the National Polytechnic Institute, a game to be played at the emblematic Wilfrido Massieu stadium, as well as the Derby in Guadalajara, with the Leones Negros from UdG, who are experiencing their first season in the Onefa, against the Tecos from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara.
