Injured Midfielder Alfonso González of Monterrey

The midfielder Alfonso González, from Monterrey Rayados, suffered a sprained right ankle, which will require further tests to determine the severity of the injury and the length of his recovery.

In a statement, it was reported that in addition to González, Nicolás Sánchez is experiencing muscle discomfort in his right thigh, subject to further assessment.

González played in the match against Pumas de la UNAM in the Copa MX, where he suffered the injury that forced him to be substituted at the 57th minute.

His place was taken by Ángel López and the team under coach Antonio Mohamed secured victory, placing them at the top of Group Two. They will now face U. de G. in the round of 16 next week.

For now, the team trained on Thursday at their El Barrial facilities, preparing for the match against Atlas Rojinegros on Saturday, aiming to maintain their successful run in the Torneo Apertura 2017.

Monterrey currently sits at the top of the overall standings with 20 points, and a win would allow them to maintain their position and take an important step towards the title playoffs.
