The 5th Round of the Women's MX League started with surprises like Morelia's victory over Toluca and León's first win, but undoubtedly, the most important match is Pachuca vs. América, as both teams lead both the general table and the goal table.
Here is the summary of the matches this week.
Toluca vs. Monarcas
After a tough defeat against Tigres in the previous round, Monarcas rebounded and defeated Toluca 2-0.
The first goal for the visitors came at 67' through a free kick that Karla Jiménez put into the back of the net, the second was scored by Mariana Fuentes at 77' after a series of rebounds.
León vs. Necaxa
León made the most of their home advantage and secured their first victory in the tournament by defeating Necaxa 3-0.
After a first half with many chances but no goals, León finally managed to open the scoring at 51' with a goal from Perla Cristina Morones, who would also score at 75'. The sealing goal was scored by Michelle Vargas at 83'.
Veracruz vs. Tijuana
Tijuana's Xolas got back on track with victories by defeating Veracruz 3-0.
The first goal of the afternoon came at 15' when Nubia Ayala scored from outside the area. In the second half, María Cristina Juárez scored a brace (69' and 82') to seal the match for the border team.
Santos vs. Querétaro
Querétaro obtained their second victory of the tournament by defeating Santos 2-1.
Lorena Rangel scored the opening goal for Querétaro at 43' with a great strike from outside the area, the 2-0 was scored by Luz María Ruíz at 59'. Santos pulled one back at 82' with a goal from Cristina Arvizu.
Pumas vs. Cruz Azul
Cruz Azul continues to struggle, as they only have one victory in the tournament, and this time it was UNAM's turn to add another defeat to their list.
With goals from Patricia Jardón (9') and Karime Abud (20', 54', and 74'), Pumas triumphed at home against a Celeste team that hasn't fully found their groove. Denisse Valdez scored the only goal for the visitors from the penalty spot, finalizing the match 4-1.
Tigres vs. Atlas
Continuing with their strong performance, Tigres secured their fourth consecutive victory by defeating Atlas 4-0, causing the second defeat for the Rojinegras.
With a hat-trick from Belén Cruz (6', 17', and 21') and a goal from Jacqueline Ovalle at 53', the team from Nuevo León consolidates their position in the statistics. Currently, Carolina Jaramillo sits at the top of the scoring table, and the team possesses the best defense with no goals conceded and the best attack with 21 goals scored.
Monterrey vs. Chivas
After leading since the 54th minute, the Rojiblancas falter and concede a victory to Monterrey's Rayadas, where debutant Mónica Monsiváis scored the winning goal at 90'.
The other goals were scored by Arlett Tovar (54') for Guadalajara and Rebeca Bernal (62') for Monterrey.
Pachuca vs. América
Considered the most attractive match of the fifth round, Tuzas and Águilas played a great game that ended in a 1-1 draw. Although the azulcremas opened the scoring early with a goal from Lucero Cuevas at minute 1, Yamilé Franco equalized the score at 73' with a goal. Both teams remain with thirteen points.
