Note: Fundidores defeat Dinos in LFA match
With a brilliant performance from Chad Ochocinco, who scored the game-winning touchdown in his debut, the Monterrey Fundidores defeated the Saltillo Dinos 14-6 to secure their second victory in the LFA and keep their playoff hopes alive.
The former NFL receiver made a strong start and despite not having a single practice with the team, he showed that he is on a different level compared to the league.
The Fundidores took the lead early in the second quarter after a pass from Roberto Vega to Rolando Medina, but Adrian Hincapié missed the extra point.
The Dinos closed the gap with a field goal, but Ochocinco's explosiveness came into play as he outperformed his defenders and caught a pass from "Mounstro" Vega to increase the lead to 14-3 in the third quarter.
The Coahuila team narrowed the margin with another field goal and had the last possession of the game, but an intercepted pass from Matias García to Miguel Ángel Chen dashed the Dinos' hopes.
Ochocinco expressed his happiness for contributing to the Fundidores' victory in his LFA debut.
"It was beautiful, it was fun. I felt like family, I really enjoyed it. The players are phenomenal, the coaching staff is phenomenal. Everything was great," he said after the game.
Roberto Vega was also pleased with his receiver's performance.
"Very happy, very involved. He did his part to help us do things together. He contributed what he had to contribute to secure the victory," said the quarterback.
The Fundidores enter the final week of the LFA with a chance to qualify, but they must defeat the champions Mayas next Saturday and hope that the Dinos lose to the Raptors.
