Minutes before the start of the match between Pumas and América, Aarón Padilla, the former striker for the auriazules and the Mexican national team, was honored for his career in Mexican soccer.

The 'Gansito', as he was also known, was accompanied by his entire family while receiving recognition from the Pumas' board, which was presented by Rodrigo Ares de Praga, president of the Pumas.

Additionally, some of the most important moments in Aarón Padilla's career, whether as a player or as an executive, were projected on the stadium's giant screen. Enrique Borja, who was his teammate in Pumas and the national team, also attended the tribute and they played some passes together.

At the end of the ceremony, 12 players from the youth teams created a mosaic with the phrase 'Gracias Aarón', and he was bid farewell with a 'Goya' by the university fans.

As a football player, Padilla defended the Pumas' jersey for 12 years, from 1961 to 1973, being part of the team that achieved the promotion of the auriazules to the top division of Mexican football in 1962; he also played for Atlante. As a national team player, he participated in the 1966 World Cup in England and the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.

After his playing career, Padilla served as an executive for the Pumas, president of the Disciplinary Commission, and president of the Referee Committee of the Mexican Football Federation.
