The leader and the third of the Italian league face each other in a clash of giants.
This Sunday, October 22nd, at San Siro, Milan, Serie A leader, hosts Juventus, third in the championship, in a clash of giants for matchday 9 of the Italian league.
The match is attractive for a couple of fundamental reasons. Firstly, it is always a duel that generates interest because they are two of the three most successful teams in the history of Italian football and have squads with world-class players. And, above all, because they are at the top of the league table: Milan is first with 21 points and Juventus is third with 17.
Olivier Giroud is the offensive reference for Rossonero. The French forward has scored four goals in the championship. However, in the previous match, he stood out for something unusual: he had to play as goalkeeper for 11 minutes and became the main protagonist of the match with a save that secured Milan's victory.
Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic are two more interesting options in attack: they have each scored four goals in this Serie A and have been decisive at different moments to earn important points for Juve.
Milan has won seven out of eight matches played in the championship in a spectacular start where their only defeat was a heavy 5-1 loss in the derby against Inter. The excellent results in the domestic league have not been transferred to the continental competition, as they drew both matches 0-0 in the UEFA Champions League (against Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund).
Juventus has accumulated five wins, two draws, and one defeat in the championship. As visitors, they had a good start with two victories, but in their last two away games, they only managed to collect one point: they lost 4-2 against Sassuolo and drew 0-0 with Atalanta.
In the most recent clash, on May 28th of this year, Milan won 1-0 as visitors with a goal from Olivier Giroud. And in the last face-off at San Siro, Rossonero also came out victorious: 2-0 with goals from Fikayo Tomori and Brahim Diaz.
The match for matchday 9 of Serie A will be played on Sunday, October 22nd and can be watched on Star+.
