The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office of Italy partially accepted the appeal of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Juventus will be sanctioned with a loss of 15 points this season for the case of capital gains and irregularities in some transfers.

In addition, eleven directors of the Italian team will be sanctioned and eight implicated clubs (Sampdoria, Pro Vercelli, Genoa, Parma, Pisa, Empoli, Novara, and Pescara), along with their respective coaches and directors, will be absolved.

The list of sanctioned Juventus directors is long: Paracti will have to serve a punishment and be suspended from his position for 30 months; Agnelli and Arrivabene, for 24; Cherubini, for 16; and Nedved, Garimberti, Vellano, Venier, Hughes, Marilungo, and Roncaglio, for 8, as confirmed in an official statement by the FIGC.

Why was Juventus sanctioned?

The punishment comes after a case in which Juventus, along with other clubs, was accused of inflating the market value of players to generate higher transfer revenue in order to achieve a fictional capital gain. In this way, losses could be reduced, capital could be retained, and the team could be strengthened.

As a result, Juventus, which was currently in third place with 37 points tied with Inter, will now occupy the tenth position with 22 points, 12 points behind the fourth and final position that grants access to the Champions League, currently held by Lazio.
