After his arrival to Feyenoord, it was a matter of time for Marcos López to gradually earn a place in the team. Although his transfer from San José Earthquakes took a few days to reach the Netherlands, it is possible that this has not been an impediment for the club to consider him on their list of players called up to participate in the Europa League.
The group stage of the international tournament started this week and the Dutch team will make its debut in this round on Thursday, September 8th, against Lazio, at the Stadio Olimpico. For this match, coach Arne Slot put together his list of players to travel to Italy, including Marcos López.
The left-back of the national team appears in the videos shared by the club on their social media. The first video shows the entire red-and-white delegation posing for the official photo, with the voices of the players in the background saying the phrase "Making Memories", one day before the match against the Italian opponent.
In this footage, the national defender can be seen, as well as in a second video, where some players can be seen carrying their personal belongings to the club's bus, leaving the training center in Rotterdam and heading to Italy. "Pack your bags, boys. It's travel day!" the post comments.
Still no minutes played with Feyenoord
Marcos López joined Feyenoord's training sessions at the end of August, although his debut with the team has not happened yet. On the weekend when it was expected to see if he would play some minutes, the national defender got injured, so he had to wait for his entry onto the field.
In the last Eredivisie matchday, the left-back was included in the squad for the game, although he did not get to play in the 4-3 victory against Go Ahead Eagles. Despite this, Arne Slot has seen potential in López, which is why he included him in the delegation that traveled for the Europa League debut.
