Undoubtedly one of the oldest active players is Gianluigi Buffon, the legendary Italian goalkeeper who currently plays for Parma in Serie B in his country. As for the former Juventus player, he talked about his possible retirement from football.
"I could easily retire from football at 55. For 10 years, I have been thinking about when I will retire, but then I always continue," Buffon said, who turned 44 in January of this year.
Buffon also added, "I have had important experiences that have allowed me to understand football, but I am not 100% sure about staying in this world. Maybe I will experience something else."
The football player will play his 28th season in professional football after making his debut in 1995 with Parma, the same team he returned to in mid-2021 for his eventual retirement from professional football, although he does not have it in his plans yet.
Throughout his career, Gianluigi Buffon has worn the Parma jersey from 1995 to 2001, then had a historic spell with Juventus, the club where he is an idol and played between 2001 and 2018. Buffon then had a season at PSG between 2018 and 2019, returned to Juventus, and finally, since 2021, he has been playing for Parma.
