German player Mario Götze will be out for the rest of the season due to a metabolic disorder, an uncertain recovery condition that has relegated the great hero of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil to a secondary role. The newspaper Bild revealed a photograph of the football player showing his evident physical deterioration.

Mario, 24, reacted "positively in the first phase of his treatment," his club, Borussia Dortmund, reported.

The midfielder, who scored the winning goal for Germany in the final against Argentina in Brazil, underwent several studies at the end of February due to the frequent muscle problems he experienced this season. The tests revealed the metabolic condition.

He is expected to be available again for the preparations of the next season.
