On December 18th, the final of the Club World Cup was played. Real Madrid faced Kashima Antlers from Japan and the Madrid team won 4-2, thus becoming the best team in the world. Gaku Shibasaki was the midfielder who scored the two goals for the Japanese team, and this has served him to sign for a Spanish club.
Tenerife, from the Second Division of Spanish football, was the club interested in the 24-year-old Japanese midfielder. On Wednesday, the European institution announced their new signing through their social media. Shibasaki was presented with his shirt (he will wear the number 20).
After that, the following day, Gaku Shibasaki participated in training sessions with the first team and took the opportunity to meet the coaching staff of the blanquiazul team led by José Luis Martí. When he was announced, he posed with the Tenerife sports director, Alfonso Serrano.
Tenerife will face Elche on Saturday, February 4th for the 24th matchday of the Spanish Second Division. There, Gaku Shibasaki could make his debut with his new team, which is his first experience in international football (since 2011 he wore the Kashima Antlers shirt until becoming unattached to the institution).
