Ecuador and Chile tie 1-1 in the South American U-20 Championship

Ecuador and Chile tied 1-1 with goals from Jordan Sierra (6') and José Luis Sierra (80') in the third round of Group A of the South American U-20 Championship. The match took place at Bellavista stadium in Ambato.

Only 6 minutes passed for the Ecuadorian team to take the lead with the minimum difference. Jordan Sierra was responsible for scoring the goal after a mistake by Chile's defense.

Ecuador demonstrates great performance on the field. Speed is one of its most remarkable characteristics and was decisive in generating several dangerous opportunities in the first half.

On the other hand, Chile was intermittent in the attack during that period. However, things changed in the second half. They pushed forward and pressed Ecuador more. In response, the rival team struggled.

The side plays started to become Chile's lethal weapon. At the 80th minute, the tying goal came from that side. José Luis Sierra, who had recently entered the game at the 66th minute, scored the goal. After a perfect cross from his teammate Ignacio Jara from the left, the Chilean forward managed to connect the ball near the goal. Impossible to stop.

With this result, Ecuador is in second place with 4 points, 3 points behind the Group A leader, Brazil. Meanwhile, Chile remains in third place with 2 points.

PREVIEW

Ecuador, still savoring the victory in the last minute with a 4-3 result against Colombia, will go all out to stay in the race to qualify for the final hexagonal, after their 1-0 loss to Brazil in the first match.

Ecuador's intention may collide with Chile's aspiration for their first victory, after their goalless draw against Brazil in their first tournament match in the South American U-20 Championship.

While Ecuador will have defender William Vargas back, who was expelled in the match against Brazil, Chile will be missing one of their stars, midfielder Jeisson Vargas, also due to expulsion against Brazil.

The top three teams from each group will qualify for the final hexagonal, from which the four South American teams that will participate in the World Cup in South Korea this year will be determined.
