German Julian Draxler scores debut goal for PSG in Ligue 1
German Julian Draxler, fresh acquisition in the winter market, debuted with a goal in Ligue 1 to give the victory to Paris Saint Germain (0-1) in Lille, who is chasing the leadership of Nice.
The Unai Emery's team, rival of Barcelona in the Champions League, started 2017 in the competition with a victory, the second consecutive one after the one achieved against Lorient, which closed 2016 and ended a streak of three winless games that distanced them from the top of the standings.
The goal from the German attacker was the only one witnessed by the stands of the Roazhon Park. It came in the 39th minute, when Draxler received a pass from Italian Marco Verrati at the edge of the area and launched a placed shot to the left of the goalkeeper.
The victory obtained in Rennes places Paris Saint Germain second in the table alongside Monaco, who will visit Marseille on Sunday, two points behind Nice, who will host Metz.
