Rain delays Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix
The intense rain delayed the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix on Sunday, which takes place at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo.
The race, the penultimate of the season, was scheduled for 16:00 GMT (13:00 local time) but started 10 minutes later.
The stewards also decided on a safety car start.
French driver Romain Grosjean (Haas), who was supposed to start from seventh position, had an accident during the formation lap due to the rain and missed the race.
Grosjean slid off after taking a turn and crashed his car into the wall, with a broken suspension.
British driver Lewis Hamilton started first, ahead of his Mercedes teammate, German driver Nico Rosberg.
Rosberg, the championship leader with a 19-point advantage over Hamilton, will be crowned world champion if he wins the race or finishes ahead of the British driver, depending on the position he finishes.
