Diego Milito Says Goodbye to Football

Diego Milito bid farewell to football this Saturday in a match with Racing Club from the city of Avellaneda.

Racing Club is the institution where Milito was born and later went on to achieve glory with European clubs like Inter Milan in Italy and Real Zaragoza in Spain.

37-year-old Milito had his final presentation at the Juan Domingo Perón stadium, known as the "Cilindro", in an exclusive match with the theme "From Prince to King".

"I'm lost for words. I never imagined something so great like this. The first word that comes to my mind is thank you. Thanks to my parents who were the first to support me in this passion that one carries from childhood, and they made a huge effort," said the now retired player.

More than 30,000 Racing fans witnessed the last appearance of the player who wore the number 22 jersey in a match that brought together three teams: two of the champions with the Racing Club jersey in 2001 and 2014, and another team called "Friends of Milito".

In the match, players from Diego Milito's generation such as Italian goalkeeper Francesco Toldo, Colombian Iván Córdoba, and Argentinians Javier Zanetti, Nicolás Burdisso, Roberto Ayala, Walter Samuel, Maxi Rodríguez, Lisandro López, Andrés D'Alessandro, and Gabriel Milito (Diego's brother), current coach of Independiente, were present.
