Mesut Özil
Mesut Özil, a German midfielder with a great present at Arsenal, revealed what he said to David Luiz after the elimination of the 'scratch' in Brazil 2014, which went down in history for the resounding result: Germany won 7-1 in an exhibition that was baptized as the Mineirazo.
One of the moments that caused the most talk during the last World Cup was when Mesut Ozil approached to console David Luiz after Germany crushed Brazil 7-1 during the semifinals. And it was the same German who, after two years, revealed what he said to the Brazilian defender. In addition to reiterating that the result was surprising even for Germany, Ozil confessed that he approached to apologize to David Luiz because he was very hurt to see the suffering of Brazilian players and fans.
"All the players were a bit surprised. After 20 minutes, being 4-0 up, you realize and you ask yourself 'what's going on here?'" explained Mesut Özil. "If you lose a big match like this in your own country and you see the fans crying outside, and the players as well, you feel with them," acknowledges the Arsenal attacker, confessing that "that's why I went to David Luiz and told him that I really felt sorry and that they had a great country with lovely people," added the German midfielder.
Regarding the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which ended with the coronation of Germany, Mesut Özil detailed that "the best moment of my career was holding the World Cup trophy in my hands. Of course, these are emotions that you can't control. You're happy, you celebrate with your teammates, with the fans, and even at the hotel, when you arrive and tell yourself 'you won the cup. You can't believe it,'" said Mesut Özil, who excelled at a high level with Arsenal in the last Champions League matchday, where many believe he scored the goal of the year.
