The Guardian newspaper published a list highlighting the 60 most talented players born in 1999, which includes the inclusion of two Mexicans.

Paolo Medina, a player for Real Madrid's Juvenil B team, and Edwin Lara, from Tuzos Sub 17, are the two Mexican defenders who were selected by the British publication as young players with a promising future in world football.

The first, born in Veracruz on May 28, 1999, has been living in the Spanish capital since he was three years old. He joined Real Madrid's academy at the age of 10, sharing the field with Luca Zidane, son of the coach of the Madrid team, and he also plays for the Mexican U-18 national team.

His compatriot began in the youth national teams of the United States before deciding to represent Mexico since 2014, with experience in the U-17 and U-20 national teams.
