The American swimmer Ryan Lochte was accused of the "crime of false communication of a crime" by the Rio de Janeiro police following his misleading testimony about an assault he claimed to have suffered during the Olympic Games.

"The investigations were concluded this Thursday, August 25," the Rio de Janeiro police reported in a statement, suggesting to the justice system to issue a rogatory letter so that the athlete can be notified in the United States.
