O'Higgins de Rancagua was in search of a new coach after the departure of Pablo de Muner from the bench following the defeat against Ñublense. And the search is over.
It's because this Thursday the celestial team officially announced Argentine Juan Manuel Azconzábal as their new coach through a statement. The Argentine returns to the country after his time at Deportes Antofagasta.
"The coaching staff arrives with a contract for the current season 2023 and will lead the challenges of the celestial team in the Copa Chile and the National Championship 2023. O'Higgins' new coaching staff also includes Assistant Coaches Ariel Zapata (Argentine) and Diego Reveco (Chilean) and Physical Trainer Mike Zepeda (Chilean)", stated the club in the letter.
The new coach of the Rancagua team comes from a short stint in Peru, where he coached Deportivo Binacional for just over a month. Meanwhile, in his time at Deportes Antofagasta, between May 2019 and June 2020, he coached 17 games.
Azconzábal will make his debut as O'Higgins' coach this Monday, in the match against Universidad de Chile at 20:00 hours at the Santa Laura stadium.
