It is not a mystery to anyone that one of the main problems that Colo Colo has had this season is the lack of goal scoring, where none of the reinforcements have managed to replace Argentine Juan Martín Lucero, the top scorer of the team last season, who had a controversial departure to Fortaleza.
The shadow of the Argentine continues to weigh on Macul and this Friday, in a press conference, coach Gustavo Quinteros once again lamented his departure and, in passing, made a strong criticism against two of the attackers who arrived for this campaign: Darío Lezcano and Leandro Benegas.
"We did not expect Lucero's departure, neither us nor the club. At that time we went out to look for a replacement and today the replacement did not reach Lucero's level. He couldn't do it and that's where we had that lack of goals that Lucero gave us last year," stressed the coach.
In the same line, he pointed out that playing at Colo Colo "is not easy." And he added: "Not any player comes, plays and tears it up. It's not like that. Many have come and done well in other teams and when they come to Colo Colo it costs them, because there is competition here. Today young players are playing and that makes me very happy."
Regarding the constant rotations between Brayan Cortés and Fernando de Paul in the goal of the team, the coach explained: "Since there are more than eleven capable players who deserve to play, it is good to rotate in some positions so that everyone is motivated. In the case of the goalkeepers, I repeat, whoever plays gives me great peace of mind and gives the team a lot of security."
Finally, he referred to the clash they will have this Saturday against Huachipato, scheduled for 17:30 hours, where the Macul team will try to take the three points in order not to continue losing ground in the fight for the title.
"It's a very important match. There are fewer games left from now until the end of the year to reach the goal. There are many teams that have possibilities; although Cobresal is getting more points, I don't see them as a candidate team in terms of football," he said.
