Xavier Tamarit, assistant coach of Universidad de Chile who replaced suspended coach Mauricio Pellegrino on Saturday, explained the keys to the defeat against Palestino at Santa Laura.
The Spanish coach avoided referring to the terrible state of the pitch, severely affected by the latest frontal system, to analyze U's second consecutive defeat in the National Championship, which is led by Cobresal.
In a press conference, the assistant coach stated: " I don't want to use the pitch condition as an excuse. Now, we haven't had clarity to create opportunities, it doesn't mean that the forwards have been the ones who haven't performed well".
"The reality is that when we have had a bit of composure, we have managed to create chances, but not much more, offensively the team has been very dull ", complemented the Spaniard born in Sedaví, Spain.
In general terms, the Spanish coach emphasized: "It was a difficult match for both teams, very contested, very balanced, but it was an ugly match, the condition of the pitch didn't allow a fluent game, but it's not an excuse, we haven't had offensive clarity ".
Finally, Tamarit avoided getting into controversy regarding the inability to have reinforcements for the second semester: " It's pointless to complain, it's what the club has decided and we are all in it together. Some departures are important for us, but we have a good squad and we have to make do with what we have".
