In Chile, many people have the opportunity to access different economic support offered by the Government of the country. Among them is the Winter Bonus which in 2023 thanks to an initiative by Gabriel Boric will be doubled and that will allow the beneficiaries, who in this case are older adults, to have extra income to use. When is the Winter Bonus delivered?

How much is the Winter Bonus worth?

This contribution is $60,000 pesos, the delivery is to help older adults, especially those who receive a pension equal to or less than $201,677 pesos. Keep in mind that the Winter Bonus has been doubled.

How is the Winter Bonus paid?

The method of delivering the economic support depends on the choice of the retiree. That is, deposit in RUT account or going in person to the places designated by the Government (the older adult has a period of one year to do so).

Who receives the Winter Bonus?

  • Pensioners from the Social Security Institute, the Labor Security Institute, the Pension Funds, and the Employer Mutuality Funds of Law No. 16,744, whose pensions are lower than or equal to the minimum old-age pension value of Article 26 of Law No. 15,386, for pensioners aged 75 or older, on the date of benefit payment.
  • Pensioners of the system established in Decree Law No. 3,500, of 1980, who are receiving minimum pensions with state guarantee, in accordance with Title VII of said legal body.
  • Pensioners of the system established in the aforementioned Decree Law who are receiving a solidarity old-age pension contribution, whose pensions are lower than or equal to the minimum old-age pension value of Article 26 of Law No. 15,386, for pensioners aged 75 or older, on the date of benefit payment.
  • Beneficiaries of the universal guaranteed pension, as long as they are not entitled to another pension in any pension system.
  • Pensioners from any pension system who, in addition, are receiving a universal guaranteed pension and whose pensions are lower than or equal to the minimum old-age pension value of Article 26 of Law No. 15,386, for pensioners aged 75 or older, on the date of benefit payment.
