The Duplicated March Bonus or also known as the Permanent Family Contribution, is an economic aid that the Government of Chile provides to several households that meet the required criteria. Initially, the bonus was $60,000, however, thanks to a bill, the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, announced that it will change and now beneficiaries receive $120,000. This change has been in effect since April 2023, after the proposal was approved in Congress and, according to the Government, it will benefit 1.6 million households in the country. Who receives the Duplicated March Bonus?
This bonus will be given to those people who have received the Permanent Family Contribution, formerly known as the March Bonus, among other economic benefits provided by the Government of the country. Likewise, the following groups:
- People who receive Family or Maternal Allowance for their dependents, and who had those payments in force until December 2022. They are entitled to an extraordinary contribution of $60,000 per dependent.
- People who receive Family Subsidy, and who had that benefit in force until December 2022. They are entitled to an extraordinary contribution of $60,000 per subsidy recipient (that is, for each child or person for whom they receive the subsidy).
- Families belonging to the Subsystem of Securities and Opportunities (Family Ethical Income) or Solidarity Chile, who were beneficiaries of those systems as of December 31, 2022. They are entitled to an extraordinary contribution of $60,000 per family.
How to check if I am a beneficiary?
To find out if you are eligible for the Duplicated March Bonus, you must go to the website of the Social Security Institute, enter your ID number (RUT) and date of birth. When do they pay the Duplicated March Bonus?
The economic benefit with the extra amount promised by the Government is delivered starting in late March and the best part is that people do not need to apply for it, as it is done automatically if you have already received the first payment.
According to the Minister of Labor, Jeannette Jara, 96% of those who receive the bonus will be able to collect it through their RUT Account, and the remaining group can go to the place where they usually collect other bonuses.
