The University of Chile has not been able to add any reinforcements for this second part of the season, as the club does not have enough budget.
And the coach of the blues, Mauricio Pellegrino, is aware of that and stated that they are aligned with the economic policy of the board and clarified that if they do not sell a player, such as Darío Osorio, they cannot make signings.
"I think in the instructions personal opinions are not as important as being consistent with the sports project. With my coaching staff, we have to build the team and we never agree. with Manu (Manuel Mayo, sports manager) and the president (Michael Clark) we agree on many aspects and the most relevant thing is that it is a difficult time to sign players, that's what the club told me," said the Argentine strategist in a press conference.
"Manu and I agree on all sports aspects, but we depend on the club's budget. They warned us that it is difficult to sign players if we do not sell Darío Osorio. If no money comes in, we cannot sign quality players. There are players in sight, but it's difficult. Are we happy? Yes, but there is always room for improvement," he added.
However, Pellegrino stated: "It is not ideal, the ideal thing is to have a wallet or write checks and bring players, but this is reality. The club is consistent with the budget which may not go hand in hand with the coach, the technical secretary or the owners themselves, who agree with us. But there are things that cannot be done due to budget."
"Today comes dragging difficult moments from the club, little by little it wants to stand up. We cannot go from zero to one hundred quickly. Can we regret it? I don't know. I will continue to convince or make an effort to aspire to the best," he concluded.
