Luis Suarez Gets Ready to Return to the Field
The Uruguayan forward will play this Wednesday night with Gremio.
Gremio will face Cruzeiro in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil Round of 16 at the Arena do Gremio stadium at 7:30 pm.
This is a significant match between the two most successful clubs in the history of the tournament.
Less than a month ago, both teams faced each other in Belo Horizonte, with Cruzeiro winning 1-0.
That match was part of the second round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Neither Suarez nor his team played a great match that night on April 22nd.
What surprised many was a tweet from Cruzeiro after the game, responding to a fan who asked about the Uruguayan forward.
"I wanted to know if Suarez is fine," asked a fan of the blue team from Belo Horizonte.
The Cruzeiro's community manager replied with irony: "I didn't see him on the field."
Due to this incident, and considering that both clubs will face each other again less than a month later in Wednesday's match, Gremio fans have started a movement to encourage Suarez even more.
In that context, they have reminded him of what Cruzeiro's community manager said about him after the match they lost.
Renato Portaluppi's team has only secured two out of the last nine points, although Suarez did not play in the 4-1 defeat against Palmeiras in San Paulo. Gremio is putting a lot of effort into the Copa do Brasil, especially because they were promoted from the Brazilian Serie B and, as a result, they do not participate in international competitions this year.
