Mario Götze
Absent from German Cup Final Due to Rib Fracture
Mario Götze, offensive midfielder for Bayern Munich, will miss the German Cup final this Saturday against Borussia Dortmund due to a rib fracture. The club has reported that the injury will not prevent him from playing in the European Championship in France in June.
Fractured Rib Keeps Götze Out for Two Weeks
The skilled midfielder, who was nominated in Germany's preliminary squad for the European Championship, fractured a rib over the weekend in the final Bundesliga match, an injury that will keep him off the field for about two weeks.
Despite traveling to Berlin with his teammates, Mario Götze was ruled out for the clash against Borussia Dortmund after Bayern Munich's final training session.
Bayern Munich will also be without winger Arjen Robben and defender Holger Badstuber for the match as they seek a double title after winning the Bundesliga.
"He needs to rest for 14 days, but it doesn't seem like his participation in the Euro is in doubt," Bayern Munich said about Mario Götze in a brief statement.
