The FIFA has announced the three finalists for the Puskás Award, given to the football player who scores the best goal of the year. Richarlison, Dimitri Payet, and Marcin Oleksy were the chosen ones, after voting from fans on the official website and expert panelists.
Initially, the list included 11 players. Each voter chose their first, second, and third options. Each nominee accumulated points (five for first place, three for second place, and one for third place). Additionally, as detailed by FIFA, the selections from the two groups of voters - fans and expert panelists - represented 50% of the total votes each, regardless of the number of voters in each group.
The winner will be the one who accumulates the most points. In case of a tie, the Puskás Award will be given to the player who receives the most first-place votes.
The award ceremony will take place on February 27, 2023, in Paris. The results will be published on FIFA+ after the event.
