In the framework of the first regular season match for Toluca at Estadio Nemesio Diez, the club's management decided to pay tribute to Pelé, who passed away on December 29.

Toluca's management also included the silhouette of Pelé on the Red Devils' uniform, with a small image in the center of the jersey's chest.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento played at Nemesio Diez Stadium in 1966, where Santos from Brazil visited the capital of the State of Mexico for a friendly match against Toluca, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
His former team, Santos from Brazil, paid tribute once again by displaying a large throne with a crown on top, showcasing his greatness, as he is considered by many as the greatest player of all time. With the Brazilian National Team, he played 112 matches, both official and non-official, and scored 95 goals.
Among his achievements at club level, in addition to the local tournaments with Santos, are two Copa Libertadores titles and two Intercontinental titles.
