What did Pelé die of?

The legend of South American football died at the age of 82 exactly one month after being admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo.

The former champion had to be admitted to the hospital emergency room to be treated for colon cancer that he had been suffering from for several years. According to several Brazilian media reports, chemotherapy was not having the desired effect, so he had to be transferred to the palliative care unit.

In addition, the medical team confirmed that the cancer that Pelé suffered from caused problems in his kidneys and heart, so several of his relatives who lived outside of Brazil arrived in the country to be with O’Rei during the last days of his life.
